Assignment 1: Update Your Work Environment Preferences

This assignment will help ensure your career analysis aligns with your personal preferences for social communication, work structure, and sensory stimulation in the workplace.

Step 1: Open your Strengths Profile, and locate Section 5: Work Environment Preferences.

Step 2: Add a subsection titled “Work Environment Preferences.”

Step 3: For each of the following workplace considerations, choose a number (1–5) that best represents your preference.

    2 = Infrequent, work-related interactions (only as needed for tasks)

    4 = Frequent, mix of work and social communication (team-focused, collaboration required)

    5 = Very frequent, complex communication (fast-paced, socially dynamic workplace)
    Structure
    How structured and predictable do you prefer your work environment setting?
    1 = Highly structured, almost no change (routine-based, clear procedures)

    2 = Structured with flexibility (some minor adjustments over time)

    3 = Semi-structured, occasional change (mix of routine & problem-solving)

    4 = Loosely structured, frequent change (fluid, adaptable environment)

    5 = Unstructured, unpredictable (daily changes, fast-moving work)
    StimulationHow much sensory input (noise, people, movement, visual stimulation, etc.) do you prefer in your work environment?1 = Low-stimulation, quiet (calm, focused, minimal distractions)

    2 = Moderate, some activity (light background noise, manageable pace)

    3 = Semi-active, periodic high-energy moments (active but controlled environment)

    4 = Busy, high-energy environment (constant movement, social engagement)

    5 = Fast-paced, highly stimulating (loud, energetic, lots happening at once)

    Step 4: In Section 5 of your Strengths Profile, add your selected rating level (1–5) next to each category.

    Example of an updated entry:

    Section 5. Work Environment Preferences

    • Social Communication Level: 2 (Infrequent, work-related, structured interactions)
    • Work Environment Structure: 3 (Semi-structured, occasional change)
    • Workplace Stimulation Level: 2 (Moderate, some activity but limited noise/distractions)

    Step 5: Save Your Strength Profile! You will use these selections for the following Assignment #2: Career Analysis.
