First Ascent – PREPARE Stage

The Prepare stage of the First Ascent Program helps you apply the foundational work of the Align stage  — what you learned about your strengths, preferences, and goals — to begin making intentional, focused steps forward on your journey.

In the Prepare stage, you’ll continue working closely with your parent or trusted mentor to plan and take small, planned steps toward your goal, then evaluate your progress and experiences before taking the next step. Your work and experiences in this stage may confirm the work and career pathway you identified in the Align stage, or it may encourage you to pivot to another route.

Because everyone’s journey looks different, the Prepare stage primarily includes resources and guides to help you focus your efforts and plan your courses of action, rather than guided weekly modules as in the Align stage. You’ll meet frequently with your parent/mentor and other participants to discuss your experiences and next steps.

No matter where you find yourself at the end of the Prepare stage, and even if you discover your goals have shifted, you will have taken tremendous steps toward your first ascent!
